Frequently Asked Questions
Registration?
Once you’ve joined the waitlist, Miss Sophie will reach out to provide updates on your child’s placement. If your child is accepted, you can expect to receive a registration form by January of the year they’ll be attending preschool. Please note that class spots are limited, as I keep my classes small with 8-12 students to ensure personalized attention and care. Thank you so much for your interest! I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and your child!
Curriculum?
Miss Sophie uses fun planned activities and lessons, along with The Good and the Beautiful curriculum in class every day. This curriculum maximizes learning by teaching multiple concepts in each activity or lesson, reducing busy work! Before your child attends class on their first day of school, you will need to purchase some items from The Good and the Beautiful website. If you registered your preschooler for the preschool class, you will need to purchase the Practice Sheets and Doodles & Pre-Writing Part 1 workbook. If your child is registered for the kinder prep course, you will need to purchase the Kindergarten Prep Course Set, and Doodles & Pre-Writing Part 2. Miss Sophie will keep your child’s workbook at school in their cubby until they have completed it together! It will be an exciting school year!
Drop off/Pick up Time?
Please plan on dropping your child off and picking him/her up on the side of the road near the driveway. To ensure a safe pick up and drop off please avoid parking directly in front of the driveway and do not ever pull into the driveway! Your student will walk up the driveway to the black chain link fence where Miss Sophie will be waiting. Miss Sophie will walk the class together to the classroom at start time. Please do not park across the street for pick up or drop off to ensure preschoolers are not crossing the street. Please do not drop off students more than 10 minutes early. Miss Sophie will not be waiting at the fence until then. Miss Sophie will walk the class back to the fence for pickup. Miss Sophie will wait with them there until every child has been picked up. Students will only be sent home with those individuals listed on your registration form. Please let Miss Sophie know if there is a change in who will pick your student up, or if your student will be going home with a friend. Please plan on picking up your child on time! A $10.00 late fee will be given for each late pick-up beyond 10 minutes of class time ending.
Tuition?
Sophie’s Sunshine Preschool is $145/month. Tuition will be due through venmo on the first school day of the month. A $10.00 late fee will be assigned for tuition paid after the 10th of the month. No credits or refunds will be given for vacations.
Visitors?
To help limit distractions, and as a safety precaution, Sophie’s Sunshine Preschool does not have an open-door policy. However, when planned, visitors are most welcome within the classroom! Visitors can be expected for classroom holiday parties, or coming as a birthday reader. If for any reason you might need to visit your preschooler during class time, please text or email sophiessunshinepreschool@gmail.com ahead of time.
Feeling Sick?
Please keep your child home if they have a fever, rash, cough, pink eye, colored mucous from nose, upset stomach, or are complaining of not feeling well. Children who have been ill should be symptom-free for 24 hours before returning to the classroom. Miss Sophie reserves the right to cancel class should she become ill. If she is sick beyond three school days, school will be rescheduled for a makeup day or a refund will be issued.
Sunshine Folder?
Students are given a sunshine folder on their first day of school. Miss Sophie will fill your preschooler’s folder with a monthly calendar, notes, classwork, homework, etc. for your student to take home. Please check your student’s sunshine folder and return it with your preschooler the following school day.
Backpacks?
Yes! Your little preschooler is encouraged to bring a backpack to school! Backpacks will help to transport important information/classwork home, as well as keep your student’s belongings safe!
